Do you want to learn how to:
Establish better rapport with your co-workers and management?
Elicit more positive results from your staff?
Enhance sales?
Increase productivity?
Develop more effective communication skills?
Encourage greater teamwork?
Let Janeen A. Sarlin, Master Chef, Instructor and Certified Therapeutic Coach, show you how to achieve these positive goals through her team building cooking classes.

Cooking a meal together can be a fun, rewarding and learning experience. It gives co-workers a chance to get to know one another better by coming together to perform an enriching communal task (cooking a meal) in a unique setting (a kitchen).

By eliminating the typical distractions of the office (phones ringing, deadlines to meet, constant interruptions), participants can interact in a neutral setting with no preconceived notions of roles, tasks and hierarchies. The kitchen and meal preparation create a positive and special experience where literally anything is possible

For years, companies have used my cooking classes as an effective team-building technique to help co-workers enhance their communication skills and work together more effectively. And they get to enjoy a great-tasting meal they've prepared themselves.

Now, I am bringing my Therapeutic Coaching skills "to the table" so to speak, to make my cooking classes even more effective.

Applying Therapeutic Coaching to Cooking
Everything we encounter in life is associated with or "anchored" to one or more of our senses-sight, sound, touch, taste and smell-and "coded" in our subconscious minds as either a negative or positive experience.

Coming in contact with one of these "anchors" can trigger a negative and unproductive response that prevents people from reaching their full potential. My cooking lessons can break this pattern.

By applying Therapeutic Coaching-primarily the use of language and questioning techniques-I help people replace these negative codes in their mind with positive ones, anchored by food and the skills learned at my cooking class. And food is such a wonderful anchor for a positive experience!

By asking the right questions (..."What if you looked at it this way... "How would your life be different if..."), I can help people learn a new way to think about and react to the very things that prevent them from achieving success, happiness and self-esteem.

More than just cooking lessons
I'm not just teaching people how to cook, but how to make the most of their lives.

Through my Therapeutic Coaching skills, I can take an unbiased approach where I am totally involved and committed in helping with the outcome, but am not personally invested in the problem itself.

I like to compare it to teaching people how to cook. Through my many years experience as a chef and cooking instructor, I can draw from my vast knowledge of classic recipes to create a gourmet meal. But we're not here just to cook one of my creations.

We're here to create something new and wonderful together that is unique and special to a specific group, where ultimately the success of the meal depends on each individual involved. You all do the work, I simply guide or "coach" you on how to do it.

And I purposely create an environment that makes participants feel secure and comfortable enough to be creative and try something new in order to unblock the negativity that holds them back. And what says comfort more than a great-tasting meal-especially one you've prepared yourself!
With Therapeutic Coaching, the simple act of preparing a meal together teaches people how to:
Communicate more effectively (a great skill for the business world and particularly for salespeople)
Work together as a team (an effective management technique)
Build a sense of camaraderie
Set and attain individual and team goals
Develop self-esteem
Become personally empowered
Eliminate ingrained patterns that prevent success and happiness
These are valuable lessons that can be applied easily to the workplace to increase sales, boost productivity and efficiency and enhance communication skills. And they can be applied to one's personal life, as well.

Group Class Logistics
In my cooking class, there's no competition. Everyone has a job to do-whether it's adding the right amount of spices, bringing water to a boil or chopping onions in the "no more tears" style I teach. Each person and each job is important - and together we make a delicious meal that tastes even better because we made it ourselves.

Plus it's fun to be out of the corporate environment. Classes can be conducted in my "corporate" kitchen or I can turn a conference room into a working kitchen.

I can accommodate most any class size by simply dividing people into groups.

Individual Therapeutic Coaching Sessions
My Therapeutic Coaching cooking classes are also available on a one-on-one basis. These private sessions are tailored to your specific objectives and hoped-for positive outcomes.

I also offer individual Therapeutic Coaching sessions that don't involve cooking at all. These one-on-one sessions are conducted in a more traditional "dialogue" format.
